My PhD thesis defends a view I call colour structuralism, which holds that the phenomenal colours we experience have structural properties which are not type-identical to, but are instantiated by and hence structurally reducible to, lower-level surface reflectance profiles. As such, colour structuralism is a novel middle-way position between identity physicalism and primitivism about colour. I argue that this result has broad implications for how we should understand objectivity and realism in science and in experience, and how we should approach the hard problem of (sensory) consciousness.

September 2025: I was awarded an Institute of Philosophy Innovation Award to co-organise and host an interdisciplinary conference on the theme 'Physics and the Self: Interdisciplinary Perspectives' at Senate House in London, for early career researchers in philosophy, physics, neuroscience, and psychology departments. The deadline for our Call for Abstracts was Friday 31st October 2025.
September 2023: I co-founded and co-organised the London-Oxford Graduate Mind Group. I established a mailing list for graduate students working on philosophy of mind at Oxford, KCL, UCL, and Birkbeck, and co-organised monthly meetings during 2023-24.
